Mayo Clinic physician and researcher Edith A. Perez, M.D. has been named to the Board of Directors of the American Association for Cancer Research. She is among five new members electedÂ to serve on the AACR board for the 2015-2018 term and four members to serve on the nominating committee for the 2015-2017 term. They will begin their terms at the AACR Annual Meeting 2015, to be held in Philadelphia, April 18-22. Â Dr. Perez is an internationally regarded breast cancer specialist and scientist based at Mayo Clinic's campus in Florida.
She Â is deputy director at large at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, Serene M. and Frances C. Durling professor of medicine, director of the Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Program, and chair of the Breast Cancer Specialty Council at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida. Â Dr. Perez is currently chair-elect of the AACR Minorities in Cancer Research Council, and a member of the Science Policy and Government Affairs Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee.
