Mayo Clinic Medical Science Blog
Our previous post (on our Newsblog) highlighted Mayo's venture into live radio at medical conferences this week at the American Academy of Ophthalmology in Orlando. A well-designed and outfitted conference exhibit booth serves a range of outreach and communications purposes to convey research. One screen displays new surgical techniques, the other, interviews with researchers concerning ongoing investigations. Additionally, a full schedule of physician-researchers staffs the booth, to discuss their papers or presentations, as well as clinical topics. The setting also serves as an excellent backdrop for video interviews that will soon appear on YouTube. During the conference other ophthalmologists stopped by to discuss patient referrals, collaborations, and to touch base with colleagues. Newsletters and other publications were also available at the booth, as well as news releases on Mayo studies. Members of Mayo's marketing, social media, and research communications groups provided on site support.
